Syrah is at the top of Villa Gyetvai's portfolio of red wines. This is why we are so proud when this wine receives recognition. It is the winery's first wine, and the 2022 vintage, which is currently available, won a gold medal at the 2025 Veszprém County Wine Competition.
The competition took place at the MATE Wine Research Institute in Badacsony. The jury tasted 219 wines from 65 producers, most of which were white, with 174 entries in total, in line with the region's character. However, the experts also tasted 11 rosés and 34 red wines.
Many people still associate the shores of Lake Balaton almost exclusively with white wines, but we also have sensational red wines to boast about. Therefore, we consider every positive review and competition result that our red wines receive as not only our own success, but also another step towards achieving recognition for the region's red wines.
The gold medal awarded to the 2022 Villa Gyetvai Syrah at the Veszprém County Wine Competition is another such achievement. What is particularly important to us about this wine is that it is not only a premium red wine, but also a contemporary red with moderate alcohol content, expressive fruity flavours and a lively character.
