Although most people still associate Lake Balaton with summer, we find that autumn is just as distinctive a time to visit. It is a time of harvest, when new wines ferment and the latest vintage appears. It is also the time when we open the Villa's autumn exhibition season, on 5 September, with Eva Hildebrand's exhibition entitled Visions of the Good Witch.
It will be on display at Villa Gyetvai Wine Estate from 5 September to 9 October.
The artist's introduction:
'I started painting as a baby in India, where I spent the first four years of my life. We had a small garden with a tiny table and chair where I created my first watercolour paintings. I was fascinated by the vivid colours, exotic plants and creatures. When we returned to Hungary and I started school, I felt like I had lost my home.
As an adult, I started creating again and fell in love with oil painting. Very clear yet complex images often appear in my mind when I am lost in thought while reading or when I am deeply moved by a complicated social interaction. I also often draw inspiration from observing the order of nature.
I believe that nature preserves the ancient wisdom that humanity tries to apply but does not understand. Every story worth telling can be found in nature: power, hierarchy, love, revenge, and, of course, the unbearable attachment to existence. When I paint, I immerse myself in these stories. I see signs and symbols that guide us along the way, and most importantly, I find a home somewhere inside.

The exhibition can be viewed during the villa's opening hours until October 9, 2025. Before or after your visit, you can taste Villa Gyetvai wines or even while admiring the wonderful pictures.
