Vintage Report 2025

The first wines from our 2025 vintage are now available, so, in keeping with tradition, we thought it was time to look back at how the year unfolded and how the weather influenced the style and character of our wines. As always, we received the details from our head winemaker, Gábor Demjén.

Once again, winter was not generous with us in terms of precipitation. However, we took it as a good omen at the start of the year that the transition from winter to spring finally went smoothly and took place at the usual time. Thanks to this, the growing season began on time and not too early, as had happened in some previous vintages, and we could already surmise from this that we would not have to expect an extremely early harvest in 2025.

The summer was warm, but temperatures were by no means as unusually high as in 2024. Grapes spared from extreme temperatures are capable of more harmonious development and ripening, which plays a significant role in the development of their bouquet and aromas, among other things. The recurring problem of low rainfall was more acutely felt by us; this resulted in smaller-than-usual berries being harvested, and consequently, the final volume of wine produced fell short of our expectations at the start of the year. However, insofar as concentration and substance are concerned, we have no cause for complaint.

“Although the 2025 vintage produced a small yield, it gave us some beautiful wines. We are particularly excited about Riesling at the moment, as we have some exciting news to share about it. As you know, Riesling has been part of our selection since the beginning and has probably earned us the most recognition. It has been such a focal point over the years, and we have paid so much attention to how work in the cellar, as well as viticulture, can shape its style, that we now feel ready to bottle two distinct Rieslings. We’re not revealing everything just yet, but we believe we’ve chosen a good vintage for this step: the fruitiness of the grapes will make the newly released wine very appealing.”
