The 2023 vintage of our Riesling has just made its debut in our portfolio, having won a gold medal in the spring at the 11th St. Urban's Wine Competition and the Balatonfüred-Csopak Wine Region Wine Competition. Of course, this is not the first gold medal for this wine, as it has won several competitions before release, i.e. while still ageing in bottle.
Following our experimental 2022 Riesling, which was predominantly barrel-matured, we returned to the classic recipe for the 2023 vintage. This vintage was matured largely in tanks (70%), with the remaining 30% matured in oak barrels. The wine was aged for six months, bottled around a year ago and has been ageing in the bottle ever since. As this variety is known to benefit from longer ageing in the bottle, we wanted to present it to wine lovers in the best possible form.
Based on the gold medals awarded at the XI. Urban's Day Wine Community Competition and the Balatonfüred-Csopak Wine Region Wine Competition in April, we decided that the time was right for the presentation. We had no serious doubts, of course, as the wine had already won gold medals at the Berliner Wine Trophy and the Semmelweis University National Wine Competition the previous year.
The 2023 Riesling is now available at the Villa in Füred and also in our WEBSHOP.
