We believe it is important that wine competitions are increasingly adapting to consumer demands by awarding not only so-called "great wines", but also bottles intended for everyday consumption — quality is important here, too. This is why we were delighted when Rosso was chosen as the light red wine of the Győr Wine Days last year.
In keeping with tradition, the 2025 Győr Wine Days began with a parade of wine knights and the Festival Wine Awards ceremony. Every year, the organizers of the event place emphasis on presenting Hungarian wines through the wines of high-quality wineries in addition to the regional offerings. In 2025, 47 wineries from 14 wine regions participated in the wine days, 9 of which represented the local Pannonhalma wine region.
At the Wine of the Festival Competition, the jury awarded prizes in eight categories. Wines from Pannonhalma, the home turf, came top in five of them, so we have every reason to feel particularly proud that Villa Gyetvai won one of the remaining three category titles, representing not only the Balatonfüred–Csopak wine region, but the entire Balaton wine region. Villa Gyetvai Rosso was chosen as the best light red wine.
Rosso represents a new category for us. It could even be called the red wine for white wine lovers, as its moderate alcohol content, restrained tannins and fresh acidity give it the same qualities as a fine white wine. The main difference is that you will find red fruit aromas in Rosso. So, if a die-hard white wine lover is craving variety, instead of yellow-fleshed fruits, they will find fresh currants and sour cherries here. It's worth a try!
