Tagore Promenade, Balatonfüred
The iconic promenade of Balatonfüred runs along the shores of Lake Balaton under shady plane trees. The Tagore Promenade is popular not only for its romantic atmosphere, but also for its cultural significance: trees and memorial plaques of famous personalities bear witness to the town's prestige. The promenade is lined with cafés, wine bars and ice-cream parlours.
The Benedictine Abbey of Tihany
Although not officially part of the wine region, Tihany is easy to reach from Balatonfüred and should not be missed. The 950-year-old Benedictine Abbey stands on the highest point of the peninsula, with breathtaking views of Lake Balaton. In addition to the abbey's baroque church, burial vault and historical exhibition, the surrounding lavender fields are well worth exploring.
The Lóczy Cave and the Tamás Hill lookout tower
The Lóczy Cave on the outskirts of Balatonfüred showcases the geological wonders of the Balaton Highlands, where guided tours explore the world of limestone caves. From here, a short walk takes you to the Tamás Hill lookout tower, which offers a fantastic panoramic view of Lake Balaton and the vineyards of the nearby hills.
Csopak beach and the St Donat Chapel
The Csopak beach is one of the most beautiful and quietest around Lake Balaton - crystal clear waters, a family-friendly environment and a wine bar on the shore where you can taste local wines. Above the beach, surrounded by vineyards, is St Donat's Chapel, which not only offers spectacular views but also a captivating historic atmosphere.
Paloznak Village Centre and Jazz Picnic
Paloznak is a charming, tidy little village in the heart of the wine region. Its charming streets, thatched cottages and flower-filled squares exude peaceful tranquility. Every summer the Paloznak Jazz Picnic is held here, a perfect blend of wine, music and gastronomy, with world-class performers and excellent wineries.
