The Vinitaste wine competition is held annually in Brussels, Belgium. This year, our 2021 Rajnai Rizling was awarded a gold medal by the international jury.
For us Riesling is the variety that yields the most sophisticated and exciting white wines. We expect the most from it in every vintage, and it delivers. Tight, vibrant and elegant, it delights with rich, tropical fruit flavours when young, but fans of the variety know it to be one of the most rewarding whites when it comes to ageing, with time adding extra layers of complexity.
Our gold medal-winning wine is light gold in colour with a medium oily texture. The nose displays notes of honey, peach, apple, rosemary and a hint of diesel. The style is reminiscent of Austrian Rieslings. Bone dry and elegant, it is medium bodied with a zesty acidity. The palate echoes the aromas of the nose and is complemented by flavours of peat, petrol, lemon, lime and graphite.
When we submitted the bottles for the competition, we hoped that this fine wine would do well in this prestigious competition. Vinitaste was created by the Monde Selection Quality Institute, which has been organising wine competitions since 1961. The aim of the competition is to recognise and promote quality wines at an international level.
Vinitaste is the only Belgian contest to benefit from the distinguished patronage of the O.I.V. (International Organisation of Vine and Wine). This is a guarantee of professionalism, strict adherence to official rules and technical competence.
The competition brings together professionals from all over Europe, selected for their recognised expertise and technical competence in the wine sector, to assess the quality of the wines according to international competition standards. All wines are blind tasted to assess their quality in accordance with the methods for calculating and awarding prizes officially approved by the main wine organisations (OIV-UIOE).
