Just as the first truly lively evenings of the Lake Balaton summer arrive, so too does Zoltán Debreczeny’s new exhibition at our winery, where cheerful stories of Lake Balaton, grotesque figures, and personal memories come together with the lake’s unmistakable atmosphere. Playful yet thought-provoking, the exhibition features images of Lake Balaton, behind which memories, anecdotes, and human stories emerge.
The exhibition opens on June 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Villa Gyetvai Winery and will be open to visitors until July 8.
Zoltán Debreczeny has been creating art for more than forty years; while, in his own words, he “remained an engineer,” he did not come from a traditional art school. He lives in Veszprém but has close ties to Lake Balaton, which serves as a recurring source of inspiration for his paintings. His paintings feature grotesque yet endearing figures in recognizable or imagined spaces, often depicting the human world with subtle irony and a humanistic perspective. By his own admission, the artist does not follow traditional exhibition formats - instead, he freely constructs his own cheerful and distinctive visual world.

Cellist Tamara Naszer will perform at the exhibition opening. This young, exceptionally talented artist graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and currently performs as a member of professional symphony orchestras. During the evening, she will evoke the emotional world associated with the exhibition’s mood through classical and contemporary melodies, further enriching the atmosphere of the opening.

The exhibition is open until July 8, 2026, during the villa’s regular hours. Before or after your visit, you can also sample the wines of Villa Gyetvai, or even enjoy them while viewing the wonderful photographs.
