The range of teas made from the tea plant begins with matcha, which is ground from the green leaves and buds of the first harvest between granite slabs, and concludes with pu-erh tea, which is aged for decades in a steam chamber. It is certainly justified to speak of a “matcha craze” today. Matcha is one of the healthiest beverages in the world and has become expensive and rare; signs in Japanese stores state that each tourist may purchase only one box. You can sample these teas at our winery on 17 April at 4:00 p.m.
Erzsébet Simon studied porcelain design, which sparked her interest in the tradition of tea drinking, the expectations surrounding cups and teapots, and tea masters. To delve deeper into the subject, she set out on a journey. First she went to China, to Jingdezhen, known as the cradle of porcelain, and then to Longjing, one of the most famous tea-growing regions. Next came India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Korea, and finally Japan.
