One of the world's most valuable teas, Pu'er, is grown on thousand-year-old trees in the mountains along China's western border. The knowledge required to cultivate the plantations, pick the leaves and process them has been passed down through the generations by the local people. On 25 September, Erzsébet Simon, a Herend porcelain designer and tea expert, will arrive at the Villa to make tea for us and tell us about its history and culture.
Erzsébet Simon studied porcelain design, which sparked her interest in the tradition of tea drinking and the requirements for cups and teapots. She also became interested in tea masters. To delve deeper into the subject, she embarked on a journey. First, she visited Jingdezhen, known as the cradle of porcelain, and then Longjing, the most famous tea-growing region. She then travelled to India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Korea and Japan.
