We cordially invite you to the exhibition of the painter Zsolt Ferenc Malasits, which will be held at Villa Gyetvai Winery between 29 November 2024 and 2 January 2025.
Zsolt Malasits was born in Győr in 1961. He studied fine arts in Finland from 1989 to 1993. He has been making works of art since 1984. His applied techniques are ceramics, stone and bronze sculptures, oil on paper, acrylic and oil on canvas. In 1998 he opened the Malasits Gallery in the historic centre of Győr, where he still works today.
He has been a founding member and artistic director of the Era Changing Group since its inception in 2000. The group is made up of famous painters from Hungary who paint giant (40 square metre) tarpaulin canvases and hang them on the walls of buildings in the city.
He has long been interested in human relationships, our connection to God, to each other, the fundamental things of life: affection, love, man's search for his way in the created world, and his works are based on these themes. The warm colours and the formal language express the longing for a pure life. His inner life is characterised by a fundamental duality: good and evil, self-interest and self-sacrifice, which are in a constant struggle within his creative soul. His main aim is to seek and find the 'essence'.
He has been actively involved in the cultural life of Győr since 1993. He has organised numerous solo and group exhibitions, cultural programmes, charity events and donations. He has enhanced the reputation of the city of Győr at several international art festivals abroad. Among others, he visited Poland for the Polish-Hungarian Days in 2017 and France in 2016, where he won two gold medals at two different international art festivals.
In 2021, to celebrate the 750th anniversary of Győr, the town council commissioned a large painting (200 x 700 cm) for the mayor's conference room in the city hall. In 2023 (30 years after his studies in Finland) he was invited to exhibit at the Liszt Institute in Helsinki. Outside his home country, he has exhibited in Slovakia, Finland, Sweden, Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland, Croatia and Poland.
